Ashur´s War Journal – January 2016

Hello fellow Methuselahs, Ashur here, reigning swedish champion AND Gothcon champion (Yeah I know, it´s absurd!) Welcome to a new series of blog entries. The plan is to, once a month, list my current armory (my decks) and discuss some new ideas.

I´m known for two things:
1) Building bad, innovative and fun decks which I play a couple of times and then trash, and
2) On important events I play stable but boring decks, sometimes (like 2015) with some success.

Maybe if I list my decks and try to “grind” my more innovative deck ideas here, I might stick longer to them and maybe come up with something really interesting.

My current decks (in no particular order):
1: Ventrue+AUS G4-5 gun-wall (Mary Anne Blaire star. Seem quite strong, but is boring.)
2: !Ventrue+THA G3-4 Concordance+Daring-trick bleed (Funny, but sucks.)
3: Gangrel Mictlantecuhtli+Talbots chainsaw with ANI-weenies (Crater-deck = sucks.)
4: Malkavian G4-5 midcap stealth-bleed (Built for demo.)
5: Nosferatu+PRE bigcap vote (Ellison Humbolt star. Kind of nice, but one-track though.)
6: Malkavian G1-2 vote “White House” (See below.)
7: !Tremere Nephanduses with Ashur Tablets (Wargrim style)
8: Brujah G4-5 royalty vote (Dmitra star, Marko L style)

Ashur deck of the month:
This deck is rather strong, ie it has won me some tables. But at the recent Archipelago Jones tournament, I scored zero vp´s with it. Not sure what happened there, but I can´t blame the seatings.

Obvious weak things is lack of crypt acceleration and lack of multi-act, but on the other hand I have room for stealth, some bleed defense and at least decent combat defense.

Recent ideas I ponder:
- Is Mictlantecuhtli with Bombs actually playable? (With Pier 13?!)
- Is Bima playable? Why? Something with Dominate-skill cards and Halim Bey and Black Lotus, but it smells supersucky even on paper.
- Should I put together a Mimir powerbleeder? Seems rather fun.
- Is Legacy of Power ever playable?
- Why can´t I ever fit a deck with Cardinal Benedictions? Latest thoughts is on !Brujah with obfuscate.
- Will ANYTHING in the upcoming anarch set be worth playing?
- Will this game ever be printed again? (Are you interested in doing it? Contact White Wolf and get the license!)

If anyone have any answers for these questions, feel free to comment below, or at it´s VEKN forum-thread, or by mail to vtes@msghsfhi.com. Thanks!
